Cornelis Nicholaas Van Diemen (age 90), entered into eternal rest peacefully in his Galt home surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren on Tuesday, January 16, 2018. He was the loving husband of Cornelia, together they shared 64 years of marriage and raised five children.
Cor was born on December 3, 1927 to Maria and Cornelis Van Diemen in Zouterwoude, the Netherlands. He was the fifth child born of six children. Cor and Cornelia were married April 6, 1953, and immigrated to California the same year.
Cor held a variety of occupations throughout his working life. Most notably he co-owned and operated Holland Dairy Drive-In in Fairfield, California with his brother, Nick.
Cor and Cornelia returned to the Lodi area in 1979.
Cor was a very devout man and loved the simple pleasures of life; spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing poker, cribbage and reading. He also loved spending time outdoors, hiking, camping and traveling.
Cor is survived by his wife, Cornelia, and their children: Joyce Dolloff (Joel), Rose LaVine (Paul), Edward Van Diemen (Karen), Patrice Fiser (Randy) and Liz Waage (Ryder). Beloved son, Robert, preceded him in death in 1979 at the age of 19 years. Cor is survived by 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, remaining sibling, Nel Van Der Burg, of Mosgiel, New Zealand and brother in law, James Van Diemen of San Luis Obispo, California.
Dad, Opa, Papa, you will be dearly missed but your legacy lives on.
Family and friends are invited to visitation, Thursday; January 25th, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Donahue’s Funeral Home in Lodi, California. A Catholic Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at Donahue’s Funeral Home that evening. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday; January 26, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church at 215 W. Walnut St. Lodi, California. A reception will follow the service at the Woman’s Club of Lodi at 325 W. Pine St. in Lodi.
